The Guyana Customhouse Brokers Association (GCBA) recently participated in a Refresher Training Session on the LPCO (License, Permit, Certificate, and Other) Module, conducted virtually by CrimsonLogic.
The training provided a detailed walkthrough of the functionalities available when applying for licenses, permits, and certificates issued by agencies connected to the Guyana Electronic Single Window (ESW) system.
The Government of Guyana has introduced the ESW through the Guyana Trade Network (GTN)—a secure digital platform that simplifies international trade processes by offering real-time access to government services. Exporters, importers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders can now submit and track applications for trade-related approvals from fifteen (15) government agencies in one centralized portal.
With the ESW, the government aims to significantly reduce the time and complexity of trade operations—currently averaging 200 hours for exports and 156 hours for imports. By streamlining procedures, harmonizing documentation, and strengthening inter-agency collaboration, the GTN enhances efficiency, cuts costs, and aligns Guyana with international best practices under the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.
The project is funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce.
The Association encourages all brokers to familiarize themselves with the system and take advantage of the training opportunities available, as this initiative is key to modernizing Guyana’s trade environment.
